The noise reduction algorithm analyzes the frequency spectrum of your recording and applies an adaptive spectral gate. It attenuates steady background noises — such as computer fan noise, air conditioner hum, microphone hiss, and room rumble — while preserving human vocal frequencies.
Start with a moderate setting around 20% to 35%. Setting noise reduction too high (above 70%) can strip higher vocal harmonics and make speech sound slightly robotic or underwater. A moderate pass removes 80%+ of background noise while keeping speech crisp.
Spectral denoising is designed primarily for continuous stationary noise (fan hum, hiss, line buzz). For isolated loud interruptions, we recommend using the Audio Cutter to trim out pauses or the Equalizer to notch out specific offending frequencies.
